FUSE Cycle 8

Long Observations

NASA estimates that single-target integration times >~ 70 ksec can be obtained on a significant number of targets during Cycle 8.

  • Targets with absolute declinations > 60 degrees have the best visibility.
  • Targets with the best visibility (|dec|>60 degrees) have been observed for ~150 ksec within a one week interval.
  • Multiple visits (60 day visibility periodicity) will result in longer cumulative integration times.
  • The feasibility of a particular target can be estimated using the FUSE Sky Plots and, with more detail, by using the Observing Time Histograms .
  • Refer to section 1.3 of the Proposal Instructions for further information
