Cycle 6 Proposal Selection
-
The announcement of successful Cycle 6 proposals is being delayed
until we resume scientific operations and determine any changes in the
mission's scientific capabilities. This announcement
will not be earlier than February 2005. On 3 January 2005, a
message describing reasons for the delay was
sent to the astronomical community.
-
Roll Wheel Stiction
-
FUSE Mission Status Reports
provide updates on FUSE operations. Mission Status Report 80
describes the roll reaction wheel event on 27 December
2004 and the resulting FUSE operations.
-
Cycle 6 Proposals
-
The nominal Cycle 6 period is from 1 April 2005 through 31 March
2006. The FUSE Cycle 6 proposal deadline was 17 September 2004.
-
FUSE Science Conference
-
A conference showcasing 5 years of FUSE science results was held August
2004 in Victoria, B.C.
-
Cycle 5 Observations
-
The nominal Cycle 5 period is from 1 April 2004 through 31 March
2005.
-
Cycles 1-4 Observations
-
The nominal period for Cycle 1 and Cycle 2 ran from 1 December 1999
through 30 November 2001. Cycle 3 was extended through March 2003 due
to the suspension (December 2001 - February 2002) of science
operations while the pointing control system was being modified to
circumvent the reaction wheel problems, see Mission Status Reports 52 and 55 . Cycles 1-3 included a mix of
PI Team and GI programs.
Except for Target of Opportunity programs and Survey programs, any
Cycle 1-4 programs that were not executed within the nominal cycle
boundary will be carried over to the next cycle.
-
FUSE Launch
-
FUSE was successfully launched aboard
a Delta II rocket from the Cape Canaveral Air Station at
15:44 UT on 24 June 1999.
